Every person who has stood staring in the mirror counting down the hours eventually comes to the realization that they soon will be transformed into the glorified position known as The Bride. This position has been sought after by millions and envied by some. On this most sacred and memorable day, it is quite possible to have the misfortune of mishaps due to unforeseen occurrences and possibly by sabotage, be it self-inflected or at the hands of others you trust. That is why it is very important to know yourself, know the persons who you’ve selected, and to hire a Certified Wedding Planner who will be present to find a solution to any possible mishaps. Oftentimes mishaps can be nipped in the bud prior to your wedding day.

Let's start with the prospective bride and her attendants going gown shopping. Sadly, there will be times when one or more of these attendants will soon forget that the prospective wedding day is not about them and will go on a quest to put pressure on the Bride to give them the authority to select a dress that they prefer to wear. Not showing up for fittings and alterations when scheduled opens the door to wedding day mishaps. The final fitting should take place at least one week prior to the event. If someone has the tendency to fluctuate in weight, the dress will have been altered to compensate such a change. Be aware of the attendant who chooses to have her dress two sizes too small to show off her curvaceous figure. There is no easy solution to a busted dress caused by someone squeezing into it and it is not fair to the threads that hold the dress together. Hiring a CWP to be your eyes will help you keep your wedding party looking as dignified as possible. Remember that your attendants will be a reflection on you.

Whether it is male or female, everyone should try on his or her apparel prior to leaving the shop. Never take anyone’s word for granted that they have done their jobs. Something as simple as not trying on shoes could prove to be disastrous. We have experienced a Groom who failed to try on his shoes only to find out one hour before the ceremony that he was given shoes two sizes too small. If it weren’t for his Wedding Planner team he would have had to walk down the aisle in his street shoes.

Ladies, if nylons are to be worn, try freezing them ahead of time to prevent ugly runs. Remove them from the freezer the night before. Be sure to carry an extra pair and a bottle of clear nail polish just in case an upper run appears: "a little dab should do ya". However, if you hired a CWP she should have these items in her emergency kit.

Then there is the day of your wedding itself. What could possible go wrong? Anything! On my wedding day when the music started to play I walked out of my dressing room to take the arm of my father. Just as I am about to reach him I noticed a Rose petal falling from his boutonniere. The petals continued to fall as we made our march down the aisle. Had we had a wedding planner, she would have had the insight to detect the flaw in the boutonniere as it was being pinned and she would have substituted it with the boutonniere intended for my father-in-law who arrived halfway into the ceremony. Or had he been present and his boutonniere unavailable she would have been competent enough to take a rose from my bouquet and make a boutonniere.

So take it from me. Although many brides are capable of planning their wedding, having a Certified Wedding Planner at your disposal makes for a happy, memorable Day-Of.
